Susan Brenneman is a deputy Op-Ed editor at The Times. She was executive editor of the Los Angeles Times Magazine and began her career at Rolling Stone and Outside magazines. She was the founding editor and chief of the San Francisco Examiner’s Sunday magazine Image, a member of the senior staff of three other national or regional publications, and the managing editor of books on food, music and cultural history. She is an adjunct journalism professor at USC.
